International Women’s day was celebrated in DiST by the social work department and De Paul extension services on 9.3.18 at 3.00pm in the DiST campus. Fr. George Pottayil V C felicitated the gathering. Ms. Anitha Y Tomy(MSW) spoke about the importance of women empowerment and the different laws to protect women. The elder most supporting staff were presented with gifts as a token of appreciation for their relentless service. Later on the first year social work students of De Paul institute of science and technology presented a street play based on the theme of Domestic violence Act.

On June 5th the DIST team observed the world environment day with a theme ‘connecting people to nature’ to create awareness among the students about the necessity of protecting the nature and become its lovers. A tree was planted by the principal, Mr. Unny C J together with Fr. George Pottayil V C, the DFirector, in the campus premises.

A workshop on Protection for women from domestic violence act 2005 conducted by De Paul Extension services (DES). The resource person was Ms. Lisssy Thomas, women Protection officer Ernakulam state and Sandhya V K, regional counsellor, Kerala state social welfare board Trivandrum.

MSW students of DiST organized street play and a flash mob at Angamaly, Aluva Railway Station and Lulu mall in collaboration with Service Providing Centers in Ernakulum and De Paul Extension Services to make aware the society about the Protection of women from domestic violence act, 2005’
De Paul Extension Service (DES) engages in different social outreach programes.
It promotes social welfare activities for the advancement of the marginalized and other deprived sections in the society.
